Our Curriculum
Literacy & Writing
Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) is a well-rounded literacy program designed to help students build strong reading, writing, and knowledge skills. Starting in grades 3–5, CKLA uses original, carefully chosen texts to expand students’ understanding of science, social studies, and the arts. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed so that children can dive deep into subjects and see how different topics connect, even those not typically covered in other elementary literacy programs.
The Heggerty method is a research-based curriculum that teaches phonemic awareness to young children, from preschool to fi rst grade, through short, daily, oral lessons focusing on recognizing, manipulating, and blending the sounds in words.
UFLI is an explicit and systematic program that teaches students the foundational skills necessary for proficient reading. It follows a carefully developed scope and sequence designed to ensure that students systematically acquire each skill needed and learn to apply each skill with automaticity and confidence. The program is designed to be used for core instruction in the primary grades or for intervention with struggling students in any grade.
